The IIPS is most pleased to announce that Samuel Murumba, Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School will join us to discuss International Human Rights and Intellectual Property preceding our Holiday Reception at the Midtown Executive Club, 40 West 45th St. in New York, on January 13, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm.
Mr. Murumba teaches and writes principally in the fields of intellectual property and international human rights. He joined the Brooklyn Law School faculty in 1992 after teaching at the Monash University Law School in Australia for many years. He is a member of the American Law Institute and is an adviser on the ALI Project on "Intellectual Property: Principles Governing Jurisdiction, Choice of Law, and Judgments in Transnational Disputes." He has also served as the Intellectual Property Section Editor of the Australian Business Law Review.
Professor Murumba has been actively involved in the mission of several international human rights organizations. He was honored in 2009 for his service to Human Rights Watch. He serves on their board’s Policy Committee and the advisory boards of the Women’s Rights Division and the Africa Division. He has also served as a member of the Committee on Human Rights of the New York City Bar and is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and of its subordinate courts.
The fee for this special holiday event is $25 for existing IIPS members, $50 for non-members, and $10 for law school students. To become a member, send your membership application with $60 annual dues plus the $25 holiday event member fee (totaling $85). Membership entitles you to attend other regular meetings during the Sept. 2010 - June 2011 year at no charge.
