The IIPS is most fortunate to announce that Nadine Jacobson, Esq. and J. Allison Strickland, Esq., Partners with Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu, P.C. will present Tricks of the Trade for the Madrid Protocol on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the offices of Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu, P.C. at 866 U.N. Plaza (at First Avenue and 48th Street), New York, NY 10017.   Light refreshments will be served following the lecture and question and answer period.   Ms. Jacobson and Ms. Strickland will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the Madrid Protocol as well as explain the tricks of the trade to facilitate the use of the Madrid Protocol.  Ms. Jacobson will focus on the international aspects of the Madrid Protocol while Ms. Strickland will present the issues in the United States of implementing the Madrid Protocol.


Ms. Jacobson was recognized in the 2008 edition of the Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Guide to the World’s Leading Trade Mark Law Practitioners.  She also was included in the list of New York Super Lawyers in Intellectual Property in 2007.  Ms. Jacobson develops strategies for acquiring, enforcing and assigning intellectual property rights with an emphasis on foreign laws and international treaties, such as the Madrid Protocol.   She litigates to protect intellectual property rights in international and multi-country disputes.  She has served as a member of the INTA’s Madrid Systems Subcommittee since 2008.    Ms. Jacobson has written and spoken extensively about strategies and problems regarding the Madrid Protocol and its impact on U.S trademark practice.


Ms. Strickland counsels clients on protecting trademark assets in the United States  She assists client in prosecuting trademarks and developing policing and enforcement strategies.   She has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Intellectual Property Law Association and was the Chair of the Trademark Law Committee (2004 – 2005) and the Chair of the Trademark Treaties and International Law Committee (2001 and 2003).   Ms. Strickland has also written and spoken extensively on issues pertaining to trademarks.
