The IIPS is most fortunate to have Shahan Islam, Esq., Senior Corporate Counsel in the IP Enforcement Group at Pfizer, Inc., join us again for our third meeting of the 2007-2008 season on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Pfizer headquarters, 235 East 42nd Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues), 10th Floor, Room 94, in New York City from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Shahan has managed IP enforcement matters in the USA, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Latin America by providing hands-on litigation advice, strategy and guidance. He has also drafted and lobbied for stronger IP laws which would meet the World Trade Organization’s standards in the same regions, working with Pfizer’s international markets, health officials and lawmakers. Shahan will focus on the needs of governments to protect IP and why strong IP is not inconsistent with access to medicines in poorer countries. In addition, he will discuss litigation strategies where classic IP protection is not available in many regions because of decisions typically many years ago where few patents were filed.
The fee for non-members is $20. Admission for law school students is $10. The nominal $60 annual membership dues fee may be enclosed with the attached membership application. Membership entitles you to attend other regular meetings during the September 2007-September 2008 year at no charge. If you would like to reserve your space and/or pay at the door, or if you have any questions about this program, please contact Harris Wolin at email@example.com.
As with IIPS programs in general, NY CLE credit will be offered. This seminar will provide two non-transitional CLE credits. Mail the Membership Form with annual dues, or meeting payment by November 1, 2007, to Harris Wolin at Myers Wolin, LLC, 100 Headquarters Plaza, Morristown, NJ 07960-6834.
