The IIPS is most honored to have George Q. Fu, Managing Director of Watson and Band Law Offices in Shanghai and an Arbitrator of Shanghai Arbitration Committee, join us on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at IBM Corporation, 590 Madison Avenue (at 57th Street and Madison Avenue) 12th Floor in New York City.  Mr. Fu will be discussing IP Enforcement Issues in China.

 

Mr. Fu was a judge of the Shanghai High People’s Court, the highest court in Shanghai specializing in intellectual property and commercial-related civil matters, for 14 years.  Mr. Fu has extensive experience in legal practice in China and abroad, having worked for several law offices in the United States before he established his own law practice in China in 1999.  Mr. Fu represents many multi-national companies and local Chinese companies in IP litigations in China. He has written a number of publications covering intellectual property and commercial law in China.  Mr. Fu holds law degrees from Fudan University, China, the Capital University, United States and the Moscow State University, Russia.  He is chairing IP Committee of Shanghai Bar Association and board member of China IP Study Association and AIPPI.  He is a former Chair of ACEC China Subcommittee of INTA.

 

Mr. Fu is actively involved in various projects concerning the rule of law in China.  He has been working with the US Consulate General in Shanghai, the Mansfield Foundation and the Asia Foundation on various issues regarding China’s judicial reform and other rule of law related matters.  In conjunction with the Asia Foundation, George Fu together with his firm hosted and assisted in training North Korea government officials on legal reform in economic, trade and financial areas.

 

The fee for non-members is $20.  Admission for law school students is $10.  The nominal $60 annual membership dues fee may be enclosed with the membership application.  Membership entitles you to attend other regular meetings during the September 2008 – September 2009 year at no charge.  If you would like to reserve your space and/or pay at the door, or if you have any questions about this program, please contact Frederick J. As with IIPS programs in general, NY CLE credit will be offered.  This seminar will provide two nontransitional CLE credits.  Mail the Membership Form with annual dues, or meeting payment by September 2, to Harris Wolin at Myers Wolin, LLC, 100 Headquarters Plaza, Morristown, NJ  07960.  All checks should be made payable to the IIPS.
